VehicleCheckPK is a single place to check a Pakistani vehicle registration number, whichever region issued it.
Why it exists
Vehicle registration in Pakistan is not held in one register. Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Islamabad Capital Territory each maintain their own, run by their own excise department, on their own portal. A plate registered in one will not appear in another.
That means someone checking a used car before buying it has to know which region issued the plate, find the right portal, and work out what that particular portal demands. The demands differ more than anyone expects: Islamabad wants the registration date as well as the number, Punjab wants the registration date and a captcha, and Sindh sits behind a reCAPTCHA.
The provincial governments have no particular reason to build a cross-province lookup, so the fragmentation is permanent. This service exists to sit across it. Today that means one register: Islamabad, where we work out the registration date so the plate alone is enough. The others are honest work in progress, and every page here says which is which rather than implying coverage we do not have.
What it does not do
It does not look up people. Some of these portals will return every vehicle a person owns from their national ID number; we have deliberately not built that, for reasons set out on the data sources page.
It is also not a government service and has no official status. The excise departments hold the authoritative records. We read from them and say clearly where each answer came from and when.
Who runs it
This site is operated by VehicleCheckPK, independently, from Pakistan. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any excise department, police force, or other government body, and it never represents itself as one. Use of the service is governed by the laws of Pakistan.
There is no company behind this pretending to be bigger than it is, and no investor whose interests would compete with yours. It is free, it carries no advertising, and nothing on it is placed or paid for.
What we will commit to is the editorial standard the rest of this site is built on: we publish a fact only where we can trace it to the department that holds it or to the enacted law, we say when two official sources disagree instead of picking the convenient one, and where we could not establish something we write that down rather than filling the gap. Pages carry the date they were last checked.
