Fuel cost calculator
Work out what a trip costs in petrol or diesel at today's official price. Enter the distance and your vehicle's average; add a quoted fare to see how much of it is fuel.
Fuel average calculator: your km per litre
Your average, or mileage, is how many kilometres your vehicle covers on one litre. The reliable way to measure it is tank to tank: fill the tank, reset the trip meter, drive as you normally would, then fill it again. Enter the kilometres on the trip meter and the litres the second fill took, and this works out your average, your fuel consumption in litres per 100 km, and what each kilometre costs at today's price.
Your average changes with traffic, speed, load and air conditioning, so a figure from motorway driving will flatter a city trip. Use the one closest to the trip you are costing.
Which price does it use?
Unless you type your own, it uses OGRA's latest official price, which now changes on most working days: petrol is Rs 390.23 and diesel Rs 396.96 a litre. The price at your pump can be slightly higher: OGRA's figure is before secondary freight, the cost of trucking fuel from the depot to each pump.
