DLIMS driving licence check: the official sites for Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, KP and Balochistan, and what each asks for
12 min read · Facts checked
DLIMS is Punjab's Driving Licence Information Management System, at dlims.punjab.gov.pk; Islamabad Traffic Police runs its own DLIMS at dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk. Every official verification is keyed to a CNIC: Punjab wants the CNIC and the licence number, Sindh (dls.gos.pk) the CNIC alone, Islamabad and KP the licence number and the CNIC. There is no national lookup, and VehicleCheckPK does not check licences. This guide tells you where to type your CNIC, and where never to.
A driving licence in Pakistan is issued by a provincial body, and each one runs its own verification page. The word DLIMS belongs to two of them: Punjab's system, and the one Islamabad Traffic Police built under the same name. Search results for the word are full of copies on commercial domains. A licence check is a CNIC check, so the address you type it into matters more than it does for a number plate.
| Region | Official site | What its verification asks for | What the result shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Punjab | dlims.punjab.gov.pk | CNIC (or passport number), the licence number, and an arithmetic question | Not established: we have not run one |
| Sindh | dls.gos.pk | CNIC, behind a Google reCAPTCHA | Name, licence number, type, category, father's or husband's name, CNIC, branch, issue date, expiry date |
| Islamabad | dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk | Licence number and CNIC; for a learner, the CNIC and permit number | Not established: we have not run one |
| Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | transport.kp.gov.pk, backed by ecitizen.kp.gov.pk | Licence or learner permit number and CNIC without dashes | Not established: we have not run one |
| Balochistan | qtp.gob.pk (Quetta Traffic Police) | The CNIC, according to its home page; the verification page itself did not load for us | Not established |
All five were read on 8 October 2026. We ran none of the verifications, because each one takes a real person's CNIC and this site does not look people up; where a result is described, it was read from the page's own layout. Traffic fines are a separate system in every region: how e-challan checks work.
Which addresses are official, and which are copies?
Pakistan's government bodies use reserved domains: .gov.pk for federal departments and police, .gop.pk for Punjab, .gos.pk for Sindh, .gob.pk for Balochistan, .gkp.pk for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Every official address in this guide ends in one of them. The sites that crowd the search results for DLIMS, among them dlims.net, dlims.org.pk, dlims-itp.pk, dlimskpk.com, kpktransportgov.com and dlimsquetta.com.pk, do not. We make no claim about what they do with a CNIC typed into them; we note only that none is run on a government domain, and that the official pages are free.
Type your CNIC on the official page or nowhere. Each department's verification is free and needs no account. If a page asks for a payment, a phone number or an app download before it will verify a licence, it is not the department's page.
How do you verify a Punjab driving licence on DLIMS?
At dlims.punjab.gov.pk/verify. The form has three tabs, for a regular, an international and a juvenile licence, and asks for the CNIC (or, for a passport holder, the passport number), the licence number, and the answer to an arithmetic question such as what 5 + 4 is. Both identifiers are required, so you cannot check a Punjab licence from a CNIC alone, or from a licence number alone.
Two other tools sit beside it. e-License takes the CNIC or passport number and the date of birth and generates an electronic copy of a regular or international licence or a juvenile permit. Track Application takes the CNIC and shows where an application has got to. Everything else, applying, paying and renewing, has moved to Dastak, the Punjab government's one-window platform, which the DLIMS site describes as the system that now carries out its form submission, verification, payment and card tracking.
The DLIMS site's own FAQ sets out an online learner application: create an account, fill in the form, upload a face photograph and the front and back of the CNIC (plus a medical certificate signed by a government doctor if you are over 50), then generate a PSID and pay through an ATM, online banking or mobile banking. It says the learner licence costs Rs 500 for each category, and that a digital copy is available in your login as soon as the payment goes through.
What does a Punjab driving licence cost?
From the fee structure on the DLIMS site, read on 8 October 2026. Each total includes the Rs 480 courier fee the site adds to every card; the new-licence figures exclude the separate test fee (Rs 50 for a motorcycle, Rs 150 for a car, Rs 200 for a combination). The fee is for one year, and a licence can be made for one to five years.
| Category | New licence, one year | Renewal, one year |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs 930 | Rs 930 |
| Rickshaw | Rs 880 | Rs 880 |
| Car or jeep | Rs 1,830 | Rs 1,830 |
| Motorcycle and car | Rs 1,830 | Rs 1,830 |
| LTV | Rs 2,330 | Rs 2,330 |
| HTV | Not in the new-licence table | Rs 2,330 |
In any combination the highest category's fee applies. A late renewal adds a fine: half the renewal fee if you are one to three months late, the full fee from three months to a year, and two and a half times the fee after a year, so a car licence renewed more than a year late costs Rs 3,375 in fine on top of the Rs 1,830. If the original card is not produced at renewal, the duplicate fee is added as well: Rs 100 to Rs 200 by category, plus the courier fee. An international licence costs the same per year as a regular one plus the courier fee; three years for a car comes to Rs 4,530.
For queries the site lists the emergency number 15, the phone number 042-99202892 and [email protected]. The only download it offers is the medical form.
How do you verify a Sindh driving licence?
At Driving License Sindh, the Sindh Police department's site, on its online verification page. It asks for the CNIC alone, behind a Google reCAPTCHA. The result page is laid out to show the holder's name, licence number, licence type, licence category, father's or husband's name, CNIC, the branch that issued it, the issue date and the expiry date. The department's home page carries a sample record showing a learner licence for motorcycle and car.
The department also lists a free Public app on Google Play for verification, fee structure, licence history, applicant enquiry, branch addresses and test preparation; an appointment system, DLS Online, for reserving a time slot before visiting a branch; verification for overseas Pakistanis by email; and SMS reminders about an application. Its contact line is (021) 9925052-6 at Zamzama Street No. 11, near Do Talwar, Clifton, Karachi.
What does a Sindh driving licence cost?
From the department's fee structure, read on 8 October 2026. A permanent licence is issued for three or five years. The learner figures are the licence fee alone; the department's services page adds Rs 100 for the medical and Rs 65 for NADRA to each, so a motorcycle learner licence comes to Rs 215 in all, a car Rs 265, and both Rs 315.
| Category | Learner | Permanent, 3 or 5 years |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs 50 | Rs 510 or Rs 660 |
| Car | Rs 100 | Rs 960 or Rs 1,260 |
| Car and motorcycle | Rs 150 | Rs 1,410 or Rs 1,860 |
| LTV | Rs 100 | Rs 960 or Rs 1,260 |
| Motorcycle rickshaw (MCR) | Rs 100 | Rs 960 or Rs 1,260 |
Renewal within 30 days of expiry costs less than a new licence (Rs 310 or Rs 460 for a motorcycle, Rs 560 or Rs 860 for a car); after 30 days it costs more (Rs 435 or Rs 660, and Rs 810 or Rs 1,260). The HTV rows of the department's table are garbled on its page, so we do not quote them. Fixed charges apply on top: lamination Rs 250, NADRA Rs 65, medical Rs 100, a correction Rs 310, a duplicate Rs 360, a PSV endorsement Rs 500, and TCS delivery of the card at Rs 38 in Karachi or Rs 55 elsewhere.
How is a Sindh licence issued?
You must be 18 (21 for LTV and MCR, 22 for HTV), appear in person with your original CNIC, and pass a medical with a police doctor: 6/6 eyesight, with glasses if you wear them, and no hearing problem. The Motor Vehicle Ordinance's second schedule, which the department reproduces, disqualifies epilepsy, lunacy, heart disease likely to cause fainting, failing to read a number plate at 25 yards, colour blindness and night blindness, and leprosy for a public service vehicle licence.
- Reserve a slot on DLS Online, then report to the branch's front desk.
- Screening, registration and photograph.
- Medical examination by the doctor.
- Fee deposit at the National Bank of Pakistan counter.
- Written and oral test, on a computer.
- Road test. You bring your own vehicle for the motorcycle and car categories.
- Collect the final receipt. The card is delivered to your home by TCS.
Twenty-six branches across Sindh issue learner licences. Eight issue permanent licences and renewals: Clifton, Nazimabad, Korangi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana. Three issue the International Driving Permit: Clifton, Nazimabad and Hyderabad. The categories are motorcar/jeep for non-commercial cars, LTV for taxis, commercial jeeps, minibuses and light transport, HTV for buses, trucks, trailers and cranes, MCR for a motorcycle rickshaw (not valid for a car), motorcycle, and PSV for public service vehicles. The department describes its card as RFID-based and linked to traffic violation records, built to revoke driving rights automatically once a holder's violation points pass a limit; we have not seen that mechanism described anywhere else, so we report it as the department's own claim.
How do you verify an Islamabad driving licence?
At Islamabad Traffic Police's ITP-DLIMS. Its Verify License page asks for the licence number and the CNIC; its Verify Learner page asks for the CNIC, 13 digits without dashes, and the permit number; and its e-License page takes the licence number and CNIC and generates a printable electronic licence. Applications for a learner permit and renewals are made online through a login on the same site, and paid by PSID. The helpline it gives is 051-9001541.
Islamabad's fees are not here The ITP site publishes no fee table on the pages we read, and the islamabadpolice.gov.pk page it links to would not load for us on 8 October 2026. We do not quote fees from anywhere else. Ask at the licensing branch or on the helpline, 051-9001541.
How do you verify a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa driving licence?
On the Transport & Mass Transit Department's Verify Driving License page, which asks for the licence or learner permit number and the CNIC without dashes, and authenticates it against the province's eCitizen portal. That portal, run by the KP Digital Transformation Unit under the name Dastak, verifies a driving licence, a route permit and several other licences by document number, and tracks an application by tracking ID and CNIC. It is a different system from Punjab's Dastak, despite the shared name.
The department's driving licence page puts the services in its Dastak app: a learner permit (register with CNIC and mobile number, fill in the form, upload a CNIC copy, pay online), a permanent licence after the learner period (upload documents, pay, visit a branch for the test if required), renewal, duplicate and tracking. It gives Room 119, Benevolent Fund Building, Cantt, Peshawar and (091) 9214185 for contact. Peshawar Traffic Police's own site, ptpkp.gov.pk, sits behind an anti-bot check that we could not get past, so we cannot describe what it offers.
What about Balochistan?
Quetta Traffic Police, on Balochistan's government domain, advertises licence verification through the CNIC number, an online appointment service, a computerised licence with security codes, and information pages for learner, permanent, international and duplicate licences. On 8 October 2026 those pages rendered nothing when we opened them, so what the verification asks beyond the CNIC, what it shows, and the fees are not established.
Can VehicleCheckPK check a driving licence?
No, and it will not. A licence is a record about a person, keyed to a CNIC; this site looks up vehicles, by number plate, and never asks for a CNIC. The official pages above are free, so there is nothing a third-party licence check could add except a place for your CNIC to be stored. What this site does and does not do.
What we could not establish
- What Punjab's, Islamabad's and KP's verification results show. We did not run one, because each takes a real person's CNIC.
- Islamabad's fees: the linked page would not load for us.
- Anything beyond the home page of Quetta Traffic Police's site, whose sub-pages render nothing.
- Whether a traffic officer accepts the Punjab or Islamabad e-licence in place of the card. Neither site says.
- The validity period of a learner licence in each province. Sindh's and Punjab's pages state the fees but not the period.
- Whether any national verification exists. We found none; each issuer runs its own.
