Common questions

What is the petrol price per litre in Pakistan today?
Rs 390.23 for 1 litre, the price OGRA published with effect from 00:00 hours on 16 October 2026. That is before secondary freight, the cost of trucking fuel from an oil company's depot to your pump, so the price at the pump can be slightly higher and can differ between pumps.
Is the petrol price the same in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad?
OGRA's price is one national figure, so Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad and Multan all start from the same Rs 390.23 a litre. Its build-up includes an Inland Freight Equalisation Margin, which averages the cost of moving fuel around the country so the price is the same everywhere. What can differ is secondary freight, the trucking from the depot to each pump, so a pump's price can be slightly higher.
What is the PSO petrol price today?
Rs 390.23 a litre from 16 October 2026, the same OGRA price as Shell, Attock, Total Parco and every other oil company. OGRA's build-up includes a single margin for oil marketing companies, fixed by the government for all of them alike. What can differ between pumps is the secondary freight to each one.
What is the latest news on the petrol price?
From 16 October 2026, petrol fell Rs 3.63 a litre to Rs 390.23, a decrease of 0.9%. Since 16 September 2026 it has risen Rs 5.89 in all. OGRA publishes a new price on most working days, and we check for one every 30 minutes.
What is the petrol price with the Rs 100 subsidy?
Rs 290.23 a litre at today's official price. The Prime Minister's fuel relief scheme takes Rs 100 off each litre for motorcycles, three-wheelers and cars up to 800cc that are registered by SMS to 9771, on a token of 5 litres for a bike or 10 for a car. The saving is fixed; what you pay moves with the petrol price.
How much tax is in a litre of petrol?
Rs 110.64 of today's Rs 390.23, or 28%: Rs 80.00 petroleum levy, Rs 25.64 customs duty and Rs 5.00 climate support levy. OGRA's publication shows petrol as exempt from sales tax at present.
Why does the petrol price change every day?
Since 21 July 2026 OGRA has published a new price on most working days. Each one follows a seven-working-day rolling average of the international price and of the State Bank's exchange rate, so the effect of a move in world prices is passed on over seven working days rather than in one fortnightly jump.
Who sets the petrol price in Pakistan?
OGRA, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, publishes Pakistan's petroleum prices and the full build-up of each. Within it, the petroleum levy and climate support levy are notified by the federal government, and the margins for oil marketing companies and pump dealers are fixed by the government.
When does a new price take effect?
From 00:00 hours on the effective date printed on OGRA's publication. We check for a new publication every 30 minutes and show each one with that date.
Will the petrol price change tomorrow?
We cannot tell you in advance: we publish OGRA's figures, not forecasts. OGRA now publishes a new price on most working days, each taking effect from 00:00 hours on the date it prints. We check OGRA every 30 minutes, so a new petrol price reaches this page at the next check, with how much it moved and why.
Where are the hi-octane, kerosene and LPG prices?
On their own pages, linked from the fuel prices page. OGRA's daily publication covers petrol and diesel only, so hi-octane and kerosene come from PSO's price board, used only when its petrol and diesel match OGRA's for the same day, and LPG from OGRA's monthly notice.
